Inflict
The second series to emerge from the scanning project is entitled “Inflict.” For this series, I draw on the nexus of my interest in cataloging the mundane, as it intersects with issues around the vulnerability of my own aging body. During the course of caring for my pets, I frequently receive small scratches, nicks and occasional bites. If these injuries draw blood, and occur on parts of my body that fit on the scanner, I record and title them with the date and time. Since these injuries often occur while I am handling the animals, moving them from place to place, or in some way imposing control over them, the series title begs the question, “Who is inflicting what on to whom?”
